Julianw Posted 11 May , 2016 Share Posted 11 May , 2016 I attach a couple of photographs of my grandfather Captain F J Nugee in the trenches from his WW1 photograph album and would very much like some help in identifying the trench map/locations where these photographs might have been taken. He served with the 1/4th Bn the Leicestershire Regiment. I know the Vimy photo was taken in April 1916 and Hulluch Alley photo in Autumn 1917 Any help would be greatly appreciated Julian

TEW Posted 11 May , 2016 Share Posted 11 May , 2016 April 1916 Battalion and Brigade diaires put the Battalion in the Brigade frontage Q.86 to Q.93 8th to 14th April, previously not 'in the line'. on 14th went into support lines Talus Des Zouaves until 23rd then into Billets. NB photo is captioned 'Right Company Sector' . I can't specify where the Battalion sector was other than the Bn. diary says they relieved the 5th Leicestershire at the North end of Bois des Alleux. Can't place 'Right Company Sector' within the Q.86 to Q.93 brigade frontage. It all looks very relaxed and in the open so perhaps it is 14th to 23rd in support lines Talus Des Zouaves.
