Trying to find out aprox where above got his MM but when I go into Ancestry to check Diaries it does not show the Manchesters under the search?

In LG 19/2/1917 so could be late Somme?

Any help appreciated.

TNA ref for 2 Manchesters 1916 is WO 95/2392(2). On Ancestry War Diaries F&F search page just put 2392(2) in to the keyword box and leave the rest blank. The WD is there from January 1916 to January 1918 inclusive.

Rule of thumb is 3 months before. So I'd say yes late somme period (as don't know where Manchester where so cant say somme )

Brian,

The Manchester Evening News was pretty good at publishing Awards. My FMP membership has expired, so I couldn't check myself..

This assumes he was from Manchester? Do you know where he lived? Some gazette entries give a place
