MaureenE Posted 27 December , 2016 Author Share Posted 27 December , 2016 The State Library of Victoria has many online books which can be found using the Search term war pamphlets The following is a subdivision of those books, selected by author: Great Britain War Office, a total of 396 online books, including Handbooks, Manuals, Regulations etc. http://search.slv.vic.gov.au/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?ct=facet&fctN=facet_creator&fctV=Great+Britain.+War+Office&rfnGrp=1&rfnGrpCounter=1&frbg=&fn=search&indx=1&dscnt=0&vl(1UIStartWith0)=contains&scp.scps=scope%3A(ROSETTA_OAI)%2Cscope%3A(SLV_VOYAGER)%2Cscope%3A(SLV_DIGITOOL)%2Cscope%3A(SLVPRIMO)&fctV=online_resources&mode=Basic&vl(10247183UI0)=any&vid=MAIN&ct=facet&rfnGrp=show_only&tab=default_tab&srt=rank&fctN=facet_tlevel&vl(freeText0)=war pamphlets&dum=true&dstmp=1482800460742 On the left of the webpage you can further subdivide by date, but I don't think that is very accurate as I have seen publication from 1914-1918 both in the category "Before 1920" and ''1920-1939". You can however, add your own search terms. Cheers Maureen

Ian Riley Posted 27 December , 2016 Share Posted 27 December , 2016 Maureen, Thanks for the links posted over Christmas. I have found and downloaded a few gems from the State Library of Victoria. It seems to be an extraordinary collection. The links posted in February 2016 are leading me to a dead end at the moment but I am sure I have accessed material from that source before. I will search on titles later Craig, The link kindly provided to the Victoria State Library is giving me an error message at the moment http://digital.slv.vic.gov.au/view/action/error.do I will play with it later Thanks to both, Ian

Hopefully they now work, but if not go to the Australian Army website and click on the top link, from where you can access the documents. The document mentioned by Craig at the SLV is cataloged Reprint of schedules governing the disposal of public records relative to War office, by destruction or otherwise, 1877-1913 http://search.slv.vic.gov.au/MAIN:Everything:SLV_VOYAGER209429 Cheers Maureen
green_acorn Posted 28 December , 2016 Share Posted 28 December , 2016 Maureene, Thanks for the SLV link, saves me a bit of work! The AAHU website should have quite a number more listed this year as they upload documents they copied from my collection. Cheers, Hendo

MaureenE Posted 12 January , 2017 Author Share Posted 12 January , 2017 (edited) There are also a some online items available through the British Library catalogue Search http://explore.bl.uk/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?menuitem=0&fromTop=true&fromPreferences=false&fromEshelf=false&vid=BLVU1 You will need to use your own Search term, then for the results select the option online. (LHS of webpage) Select the item, then click on "I want this". Then click on Go under "View online". Note: I find using Safari as a browser (for an iMac) often I cannot access items, and I need to use Google Chrome I am aware of the following Handbook on Military Bicycles, 1911. Reprinted with Amendments, 1914. http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_100022541574.0x000002 Regulations for the Clothing of the Army. Part I.-Regular Forces. Excluding the Special Reserve. War Office, 1914. HMSO (A C D Clothing Regs 1079) http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_100007726434.0x000002 Regulations for the Clothing of the Army. Part II.-Special Reserve. War Office, 1914. http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_100003267136.0x000002 Pigeon Service Manual (Royal Air Force), 1919 http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_100022541314.0x000002 Another source is the National Library of Australia catalogue Search , although WW1 items may be limited. http://catalogue.nla.gov.au Enter your Search term and then select NLA digitised material. An item I noticed was Great Britain. War Office. Vocabulary of clothing and necessaries, 1940 London 1940 http://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-50080813 Although dated 1940 perhaps this is the type of content which does not change over time, and may be relevant if you are interested in Uniforms.
