Indeed Rest in Peace.

I'm sorry if this sounds pedantic but I think that

"Sgmn Johnson died of uticaria & angeleodema " should read

"Sgmn Johnson died of urticaria & angioedema "

although the last word could have been spelt 'angio-oedema' in those days.

Likewise, "- Cpl of Horse Haynes died of chondo-endothelioma" should read

"- Cpl of Horse Haynes died of chondro-endothelioma" (a tumour containing cartilage).

As I say, apologies for correcting the spelling, but as these names will now be remembered forever, I'm sure the errors would be picked up by someone else sooner rather than later.

Great to see that James Anderson of the Royal Scots has been accepted, it was my wife Mary and I that found he had been in Hospital after the Gretna Rail disaster and had not been recognised on the CWGC list.Think it was yourself that took over the case as neither my wife nor I knew how to bring James in from the cold.Well done for getting it done.

A question for Chris or Terry please,

@chrisharley9

@Terry Denham

I submitted a case to CWGC last year, for them to change the data in their database, to show the correct burial location.

A man who I believe was only commemorated for the First time by CWGC in 2009 with site of burial unknown.

Like Locker, the man was therefore commemorated at Brookwood.

However his grave was located some years back, and there is documentary  evidence of the burial having taken place there. He is buried  locally in what appears to be a private family grave.

I forwarded the details to CWGC who replied saying they would pass the information to their regional team.

How long does it take usually take for (in my eyes an open and shut case) cases to be concluded and for the correct burial location to be added to the CWGC site? I don't know whether CWGC were trying to locate relatives about the matter or not.

It was regarding William Jones, KSLI, killed in the Fermoy incident.

Thanks Chris,

He is buried here:

https://www.cwgc.org/find-a-cemetery/cemetery/74976/blaen-y-coed-congregational-chapelyard/

The graveyard has the grave  of another Great War soldier, locally born ANZAC Jonathon Jones, but unrelated to each other as far as I know.

Only Jonathon Jones is listed in the CWGC database for Blaenycoed.

Both are in private family graves and are buried only about 15 yards apart.

I submitted the details to CWGC about a year ago: photographs of the grave, a translation of the inscription, and local newspaper reports of the funeral here only 4 or 5 days after his death.

His place in history is that he was the first ever British soldier to be murdered by the IRA.

William Jones

Chris,

Any movement on William Jones yet?

It was summer 2019 when I first  forwarded  his grave location to CWGC.

CWGC are now sorting out a lot of grave finds that have been delayed by COVID. Should have some news soon.
