Remembered Today:

5th August 1914 volunteers - paperwork?

Another quick question:

Volunteering on 5th August, so before things were organised 'properly', Frank presumably just had an Attestation Form filled in as he didn't have his medical until 11th Aug.

Would he have physically been given anything when he walked out of the barracks that day, like a copy of the Attestation Form, or some certificate to prove he had enlisted, or started the process?

I've looked through Pete Simkin's book, and even Richard Holmes' Tommy, but can't find anything that specific... sorry...
