Hi . I am researching 9952 cpl John Brennan from gowran co Kilkenny. KIA Easter rising in Dublin 1916. Any information would be great thanks.

The war gratuity in the soldiers effects confirms he was a regular soldier who had enlisted no later than August 1914.

Killed in action at home. Son of Mrs. Mary Maddock, of Ballinaboola, Gowran, Co. Kilkenny. Born in Gowran, County Kilkenny. News, May, 1916. Amongst the list of casualties in the Royal Irish Regiment in connection with the Dublin rebellion…. The other names include;- Royal Irish Regiment, 992, Corporal J. Brennan, Gowran,. Grave or Memorial Reference; RC 722. Cemetery: Grangegorman Military Cemetery on Blackhorse Avenue outside the North-East boundary of Phoenix Park in Dublin.
