John_Hartley Posted 5 January , 2016 Share Posted 5 January , 2016 Trying to ID the location of Daylight Corner. Anyone help, please? I know it to be somewhere near Wulverghem, as 6th Cheshires war diary, notes that they attacked a small salient into the British lines north east of Wulverghem. It would be brill if your help not only told me where Daylight Corner was, but also identified the small salient on a trench map. TIA John

Roger H Posted 5 January , 2016 Share Posted 5 January , 2016 John Daylight Corner is said to be at T4.a.8.7 which I have marked on this 18/7/18 Trench Map - after the German advance. The front line is off the map to the West. Roger

Guest Posted 5 January , 2016 Share Posted 5 January , 2016 It's shown on this Trench Map Click Mike Edit So 3/4 mile NE of where I originally had it?
John_Hartley Posted 5 January , 2016 Author Share Posted 5 January , 2016 My thanks for responses so far. Appreciated. The Cheshires' diary has them going into support positions "near" Daylight Corner on 15/9/18. Next day, they relieve 2/23rd Londons and 7th RIR in the line - I'll check to see if their diaries give any more specific info. The German salient NE of Wulverghem seems to be about 400 yards away from their start position.

John_Hartley Posted 5 January , 2016 Author Share Posted 5 January , 2016 On the modern map, I think that makes Daylight Corner being at Hooghof (the junction of the Kemmel, Wulverghem & Nieukerke roads. And I reckon Dave nails the area being attacked. My thanks all round - that's the first one of several locations sorted. I may be back in due course.
