Theatre Description - (2B) Balkans

Recommended Posts

Nick

I have the MIC for a relative (the one below in fact) which states he entered the (2B) Balkans theatre on 9.8.1915.

As he was in a battalion (2/4th RWK) that landed at Suvla Bay in early August 1915 it seems reasonable to assume that the reference (2B) Balkans refers to that theatre.

Can anyone confirm?

That's right.

2a Balkans is Greek Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria & European Turkey

2b Balkans is Gallipoli (Dardanelles)

Thanks Stephen.

That settles much debate about my great uncles movements!
