Hi all,

Trying to locate my ancestors regiment,Arthur james Cooper sent a postcard from Mesopotamia in 1917, I thought he was with the 9th Worcestershire regiment as he was living in worcestershire and i have read their history of service and they were there in Baghdad 1917,but his brother Marks s Cooper died in HElles with the South Staffordshire regiment, his 3 others brothers signed up as well, did the south staffs reg serve in Mess as well as Gallipoli.

I have found a AJ Cooper with both regiments on the medal cards index, so can anyone tell me if the South Staffordshire regiment served there as well during 1917,this may help me locate his regiment.

Thank you,

Dawn

No South Staffords served in action in Mespot. However, the 1st Garrison Battalion moved to India in 1917; it is just possible that some men were detached for service in Mespot.
