G.F.Brooke definitely commanded the Swansea Battalion from Feb 1918 to Armistice. Prior to this I understand he may have been a Connaught Ranger? Any info on his war service generally etc wiould be appreciated.

G F Brooke - born 30/10/78 commissioned 2Lt Connaught Rangers 1/12/97 Lt 9/10/99. Dangerously wounded at Colenso and awarded Queen's South Africa Medal with clasp. Presumably left Army as a result since he was not serving in 1914. Awarded three DSOs during WW1 (LG 4/6/17, 2/12/18, 15/2/19 with citation LG 30/7/19). Mentioned in Despatches 25/5/17, 24/5/18, 28/12/18, 19/7/19. Temporary Lt Col Welsh Regt. Capt Reserve of Officers 1919.

Charles - that is really helpful - thank you very much! I am in contact with Lt Col Brooke's grandson whose own knowledge is sketchy. Your answer more than fills the gaps. If anyone else can add anything all the better! I already have a fine photograph of the gentleman taken in France in 1915.
