mcderms Posted 19 November , 2004 Share Posted 19 November , 2004 I'm researching a soldier who was released from service in 1916 due to wounds suffered at the battle of Loos. Can some nice person tell me the WO docs at the PRO that would contain info on why/how he was discharged and any subsequent pension paid?

You would need to obtain the Medal Index Card to obtain the War Badge Page Roll Number, which would give his dates of Enlistment & Discharge as well as other possible information such as Age,Cause of Discharge,Etc,Then if Available you would be advised to obtain {if it survives} His Service /Discharge Record papers
mcderms Posted 22 November , 2004 Author Share Posted 22 November , 2004 Thanks - do you know what WO records there are for post war pension payments? I recall an earlier thread on this but cannot seem to find it.
Bernard_Lewis Posted 22 November , 2004 Share Posted 22 November , 2004 From memory its the PIN26 series of records. WO (337/373/374?) has some too - if you're lucky. Bernard
