temptage Posted 24 September , 2015 Share Posted 24 September , 2015 (edited) UPDATE SINCE STARTING THIS THREAD, MY CONTACT SEEMS TO HAVE GONE AWOL. NEVER SAY NEVER THOUGH. Now dont go getting all excited just yet, but one of my friends that I have on Facebook who is a very keen photographer, and who lives in Italy, has today said that he intends on visiting EVERYWar Cemetery in Italy in the near future. I have now spoken with him and he has agreed to help with any photo requirements you may have (within reasonable numbers). He will inform me of his destinations on any given trip, giving me as much notice as possible so I can post on here where he is going each time, to give everyone the chance to request photos for each Cemetery. It might be an idea for anyone interested to 'Follow This Post' so they get immediate notification when I post his new destinations. Ancona War Cemetery (WW2) is permanently open to requests as he only lives 5 minutes away from the Cemetery. Please don't post your full list of wants in this post. Unfortunately I dont have time to organise the potentially huge lists, BUT if you 'FOLLOW THIS POST' you will receive notification when I post a list of Cemeteries that he will visit, and thats when I will require a list of names from you for those Cemeteries ONLY. Peter Bennett Posted 25 September , 2015 Share Posted 25 September , 2015 I would be grateful if when he visits Bari he could take a few for a project I support. I can send a list by e-mail Peter
temptage Posted 25 September , 2015 Author Share Posted 25 September , 2015 Peter from previous communications with people it seems Bari is THE Cemetery that everyone has names at. I was fortunate a few years ago to have contacted the CWGC at the right time as I asked if they could help with the acquisition of some photos from Bari, and they said they would "pass details onto the Area Supervisor who may be able to help when he next visits Bari, but we cannot promise anything" Within a week I had received the 28 photographs I had requested. Lucky really.

Jim Strawbridge Posted 27 September , 2015 Share Posted 27 September , 2015 I really, really, really need a photograph of the grave of Rachel Ferguson, Q.A.I.M.N.S. who lies in Bordighera British Cemetery (plot II, row B, grave 7). She is the only one left to get for Italy with regards to my project re WW1 serving female casualties. And should he be visiting Genoa in Staglieno Cemetery there are two more. Andrew Jackson kindly provided them to me previously but I can never get enough. They are Wilhelmina Bailey, V.A.D. (plot I, row B, grave 36) and Hannah Elizabeth Wright, Q.A.I.M.N.S. (plot I, row C, grave 23).

temptage Posted 12 October , 2015 Author Share Posted 12 October , 2015 He did say he had already visited some already, but said if there was a request, and it didnt mean him going miles out the way for a single photo, then he would happily return to them all again. Griffin added to my list for him.

Mark Hone Posted 29 March , 2016 Share Posted 29 March , 2016 Has he photographed the lone Great War burial at Sirmione Communal Cemetery? I meant to visit when I was at Lake Garda last October but in the end didn't have the chance. DoubleD Posted 29 March , 2016 Share Posted 29 March , 2016 I have only just seen this post, and I am a bit confused. As it was originally posted last September, can I now make a request for a photograph of a headstone in Italy? If so, I would like to ask for a photograph of the headstone of: 235747, Lance-Corporal David George, 2nd Gordon Highlanders. Died of wounds, 28th October 1918. Buried in Giavera British Cemetery, Arcade. Grave Reference: Plot 5, Row D, Grave 8. If I have got it totally wrong, my apologies, and please ignore this post! Many thanks, Dave

temptage Posted 15 February , 2017 Author Share Posted 15 February , 2017 (edited) I have contacted Jim Strawbridge about the photo and I have given him a link to your website, so he may contact you direct, or send me the photo to forward on to you. Unfortunately when I sent Jim the photo I deleted it off my computer. Scrub that. I have , rather amazingly, found the original email I sent to Jim with the photos attached. Your in luck! Guest Posted 14 October , 2017 Share Posted 14 October , 2017 I realise this thread was created a while ago, but currently researching a trip to Ancona with my grandfather who has never had the chance to visit his fathers grave. If your friend could get a picture from Ancona memorial of the headstone of Signalman Thomas Jones (died 8th December 1943) III.G.14 I would really appreciate it.
