Gardenerbill Posted 3 September , 2015 Share Posted 3 September , 2015 A quick search here revealed the following: XII Corp area 25th CCS 28th CCS 31st CCS One of my own topics XVI Corps area 27th CCS 40th CCS Were there any more Casualty Clearing Stations on the Salonika front ? The LLT only seems to list the CCSs on the western front.
berniehudson Posted 3 September , 2015 Share Posted 3 September , 2015 I came across some CCS in Salonika when searching for War Diaries in the National Archives. They list 35 Casualty Clearing Station for 1 Dec 1916 to 31 July 1917 as well. http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_d=WO&_sd=1914&_ed=1920&_hb=tna&search=r&_q=war+diary+salonika+casualty+clearing
Gardenerbill Posted 3 September , 2015 Author Share Posted 3 September , 2015 Thanks Bernie my guess is that 35th were operating in the XVI corps area making 3 CCS in each sector
Sue Light Posted 4 September , 2015 Share Posted 4 September , 2015 As far as I can see from the Official History, Medical Services, those named above are complete list. The volumes are now online and can be accessed via this thread - Volume 4 is what you need for Salonika. Sue
Gardenerbill Posted 4 September , 2015 Author Share Posted 4 September , 2015 Sue, Thanks again, I have downloaded volume 4, the maps are brilliant and I have already been able to determine that in 1917 there were only two CCSs in the XVI corps sector, 27th and 40th at Likovan and K71, 35th CCS is shown as being at Sarigol, 25th at Guvesne, 28th at Karasouli and 31st at Janes. . Balfour Posted 28 February , 2018 Share Posted 28 February , 2018 Who owns the photo of 28 CCS, are there any copyright restrictions? please reply to this thread and wellingtonremembers@outlook.com this is a not for profit HLF project commemorating the 184 names on the All Saints Wellington Lychgate. We would like to consider using this to illustrate a biography of one of our soldiers who was treated here. Thanks in anticipation. wellingtonremembers.wordpress.com
JulianR Posted 1 March , 2018 Share Posted 1 March , 2018 My feeling is that the copyright will reside with the original author, unless he has noted that the pictures were taken by someone else. In any case copyright exists until 75? years after the death of the author. Copyright law is extremely complicated so do not rely on me. I suggest that you contact whoever put the diary on line and see if they would help. Julian
keithmroberts Posted 1 March , 2018 Share Posted 1 March , 2018 There are several threads in which copyright is explored. Yes, it can be complicated, and the law varies in different countries. My best recollection is that the creator of an image holds the copyright, unless he/she assigns it, and that it is valid for 70 years from the death of the creator. https://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law Keith
