Pte Frederick James Dunn, of the 5th Royal Irish Regiment, part of the 10th (Irish) Division. The battalion was meant to be the divisional pioneers but, owing to lack of reinforcements, they were sent up to the front line on Kiretch Tepe just beyond Jephson's Post on this day 100 years ago. It's understood that there was a shortage of bombs which they could use in reply to those of the Turks.

He was killed probably in the afternoon - by around 8pm that day the decision to withdraw as made - but, sadly, this was too late for Fred.

He left a wife and four children (with a 5th kiddie on the way)

He has no known grave - on the Helles memorial Panel 55. :poppy:
