The Prussian Posted 16 August , 2015 Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Hello gents! A friend of mine lives next to a court, which was used as a prisoner camp in the 1st WW. Now he found this thing. Because of there were a lot of british officers in the camp, he assumes, it could be a part of a spoon with a regimental insignia. Any opinions, please? Thanks a lot in advance! charlie2 Posted 16 August , 2015 Share Posted 16 August , 2015 It looks more like a chandelier than a regimental insignia. Charlie
The Prussian Posted 16 August , 2015 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Hi Charlie! Yes, it seems so... That´s why I posted the photo in two views. I don´t know which is the right side. Unfortunately I can´t read anything that´s written
charlie2 Posted 16 August , 2015 Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Hi Andy Have you tried to read the inscription from the other side ie inside the "bowl", that is where it would be normally readable.
johnboy Posted 16 August , 2015 Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Don't think it is regimental or British.
The Prussian Posted 16 August , 2015 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Charlie That is not the "bowl", it´s just the upper part of a spoon. The "bowl" is missing

The Prussian Posted 16 August , 2015 Author Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Wir wir in Deutschland sagen, "nur der Stiel"... (like we say in Germany: "just the spoon handle")
johnboy Posted 16 August , 2015 Share Posted 16 August , 2015 Maybe the POW used it to dig his way out!
