14804 Lance Sgt Robert Fairley Bell, of 'D' Company, 9th Bn, Northumberland Fusiliers, late of 25 Elton St East, Wallsend enlisted late August early September 1914, but I can't give you an exact date. He entered France on the 15th July 1915 and became an acting Company Sergeant Major. He was Gazetted with the Military Medal on the 23rd August 1916 and was killed on the 17th April 1918 and is commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial. Prior to this he had been known to have been wounded around the 14th April 1916.

I am pushing that old post up a little.

 

I have here one single Victory Medal that was awarded to 270909 Acting Corporal Joseph MAKEPEACE, Northumberland Hussars (Yeomanry) later on 9th Battalion (Hussars) with the new service number 235541. I only know that he was discharged to Army Class Z Reserve at some stage.

 

is there any extra information available of him?

Noor - you may already have this information 235541 a/Cpl Joseph Makepeace(Fmly 270909 - 2/1st N/Land Hussars) - 4th(Res)Bn, N.F., then posted to 9th Bn. A resident of 24 Yewdale St, Medomsley, County Durham.

Any pics on 3445 Pte John Bolam MM was with the 9th 1917-18 gassed on 22 June 1917 and also got the MM 21 July 1917 green hill 

he joined 1912 Posted Hillsbrough barracks Sheffield these are his battalions in order he served with which makes research hard when there's no dates for change over 2-1-2-13-8-9-depot  he was shot 1918 and discharged at the Depot
