coleyboy Posted 12 August , 2015 Share Posted 12 August , 2015 In memory of my great Uncle S1985 Percy William King 1/8 Hampshire Regiment " The Isle of Wight Rifles" who was Killed in Action 100 years ago today 12/08/1915 in Gallipoli. Uncle Percy was born and raise in Newport Isle of Wight, his youngest sister Freda being my Grand Mother. Percy worked in an Iron Mongers shop in Newport and his Father was a Wheel Wright and worked under the railway arches (now demolished) as is their house which was demolished to make road improvements in the 1960's. Sadly Percy's Medals and Death plaque were sold some time ago by a family member, I would love to bring them back into the family, where they really belong and should never have left, if I could find them But most importantly here is to the memory of an 18 year old boy, who paid the ultimate price for King and Country....Pte Percy William King.
