Remembered Today:

Name of final RSM & RQMS, 17th bn. W. Yorks (Leeds Bantams)?

Recommended Posts

At the time the17th Battalion West Yorks (Leeds Bantams) were disbanded in late 1917, does anyone know the name of this unit's final:

Regimental Sergeant Major (R.S.M.),

Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant (R.Q.M.S.)

Company Sergeants Major, (C.S.M.s)

Company Quarter Master Sergeants, (C.Q.M.S.s)

The war diary (WO95-2490) does not have these identified by name. In the absence of a battalion history, I would be most grateful for any information or suggestions as to sources.

This query is a follow-on to my earlier one about the elusive Sgt. Henry Holins (or Holmes) who went from the 17th to the 1/8th and then the 1/6th battalions W. Yorks (along with time at the 49th Division Rest Camp and a course at the ANZAC battle school) before being wounded in early April 1918. He mentions that the above individuals went down to Etaples with him when the 17th battalion was disbanded.
