charlie2 Posted 29 June , 2015 Share Posted 29 June , 2015 The following newspapers and Magazines are all available to download in PDF format at: http://s2w.hbz-nrw.de/llb/nav/classification/1086972 They range from a single example, to what I believe are all the editions of the German 50. trajan Posted 30 June , 2015 Share Posted 30 June , 2015 Excellent! Thanks for the link, véry interesting. That other language would be Greek. Indeed! I would guess that the φυλλα will be something like 'leaves', and so 'pages', thus Ελληνική φυλλα - 'Greek Pages'... Wonder why they have that? apwright Posted 30 June , 2015 Share Posted 30 June , 2015 Just a guess, but it could have been for the Greek PoWs taken by the Bulgarian army when they invaded Greek East Macedonia. That's exactly what it is. The 4-page daily (except Sundays) newspaper founded in November 1916 as "Görlitz News" (Νέα του Görlitz) for the benefit of the Greeks of IV Corps of the Royal Army who surrendered at Kavala in September 1916 and were interned at Görlitz until the Armistice. Not technically POWs, at least not initially, as Greece was still neutral. In early 1918 the paper started to be printed in Berlin and changed its name to Greek Pages (Ελληνικά Φύλλα). It's a pity they only have 1.5 copies! Great link, though! Thanks! Adrian

johntaylor Posted 9 July , 2015 Share Posted 9 July , 2015 Hi, many thanks for pointing out this fascinating resource - it's a little disappointing that for the publications I picked out, they only have a small number of editions (and in some cases a small number of pages). However it's still a very worthwhile initiative! John
