HI,

I am reading the Diary of the 62nd Machine Gun Company and keep seeing S.O.S but don't think it means what we usually think it means. Can anyone interpret please?

Usually the SOS was a pre-arranged signal that a unit needed immediate support. The likes of artillery and MG's would open fire on pre-arranged targets in response to the SOS.

Just seen the phrase "new SOS lines laid down"

Can you help with another one SAA?
