claymore Posted 22 June , 2015 Share Posted 22 June , 2015 I would be interested in seeing a German map on this area from around July 1917. Looking for marked cemeteries. Thanks.
AOK4 Posted 22 June , 2015 Share Posted 22 June , 2015 Hello, Are you looking for German cemeteries? I have written a book in which i have researched all German cemeteries that were concentrated to Menen (German graves from the area around Pillegrems Farm were eventually transferred to Menen). I can perhaps help if you would explain what exactly you are looking for. The trench maps don't show everything there was in the area... Phil Evans Posted 22 June , 2015 Share Posted 22 June , 2015 Jan, I think this thread may answer your question. Kimmer, I hope you have more luck this time. Phil
AOK4 Posted 23 June , 2015 Share Posted 23 June , 2015 Well, a name would be helpful (because of the burial return sheet).
claymore Posted 30 June , 2015 Author Share Posted 30 June , 2015 Thanks. What I hoping to find was a reference to where the Germans may have buried theirs (and ours) casualties near Pillegrems Farm. A relative was shot down in July 1917 and reported by German sources to have been buried 300 metres south of Pillegrems Farm. His body was never found, and i petitioned CWGC to have a stone placed in the same cemetery as his pilot, who was found and is buried at Wytschaete, noting that he was originally buried at xx cemetery and subsequently lost, but CWGC declined, stating that his burial was a field burial and not in a recognized cemetery. Thanks for your interest and assistance.
