Remembered Today:

Sick Berth Reserve training? Did they get paid?

Recommended Posts

Dear forum members, I am currently researching men who were members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade attached to the Royal Naval Sick Berth Reserve. For their training they would serve aboard a ship for a week. Does anybody know if they would have been paid by their employers to attend training as a Reservist??? They were employed by the LNWR in Crewe Railway Works. Sources state that they went when it was the Works holidays, but on this occasion they went at the end of July, which was normally weeks after the Summer shut-down in the Works. Thanks, Mark.

I'll see if I can find anything when I get back to work on Wednesday.
