Hi,

My Grandfather, Pte Frederick Pigott served in the Machine Gun Corps his service number (as per his service medals ) was 9839

I would really appreciate any info anyone has about this Regiment, where they served, and where I may find his service records

I believe he signed up in Grantham at the very beginning of the War, when this Regiment was initially formed, and served for the duration

he was certainly in France in 1916 (he bought a Bible home to his family which is dated 1916) and whilst he survived the war he was invalided by the effects of 'gas' and died aged 47 in 1924

I believe the regiment was reformed as the Tank Regiment in the 1920's

I hope someone can point me in the right direction - thanks
