Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 8 May , 2003 Share Posted 8 May , 2003 Were repatriated British POWs demobilised immediately upon their return or did they first return to Battalion, if it still existed, and fed through the system in the same way as others who had not been taken prisoner? andyspiller Posted 8 May , 2003 Share Posted 8 May , 2003 Ian The MOD service record for my great uncle Harry (QVR) states that he was reported missing 16/08/1917 and then repatriated 27/12/1918. He was then attached to the Territorial Force Depot on the same day. He was was not disembodied until 07/06/1919 and then finally discharged on demobilization on 31/03/1920. Being a gluton for punishment he then re-enlisted in the QVR the following month! Hope this helps Andy
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 8 May , 2003 Share Posted 8 May , 2003 Cheers Andy. I am trying to establish whether a relative was a POW. He was demobilised on a day where everyone else I have traced in his Bn demobbed on this date had been a POW. Ian
