Here's a rich and developing brand new website: http://www.vosges1914-1918.fr/

Authored by le Département des Vosges et ses Archives départmentales, it includes photos, video, virtual visits to key sites, downloadable files, regional schools' work on local poilus, information about sources and a bibliography. The website is in French.

There is even an app in three languages, including English.

Thanks for the heads up Gwyn. There seems to be a lot in there.

Another fine Vosges website which will be ignored by the majority of the forum users.

Thanks for pointing out Gwyn

Cheers from Oman

Well, the information is on the forum now and can be found in a search.

I'm going to the Vosges in the near future and will try out the app, though sometimes it's hard to get a signal. I commend them for aiming to reach a wide public, including young people.

Enjoy Oman! It's different! I'm finding the Great War stuff is getting a bit tired now.

Thanks for this Gwyn, for those of us who really like the Vosges battlefields it looks really good. It might even improve my French.

Pete.

The US 6th Infantry Divn served in the Vosges sector. They were involved in some bloody engagements mostly raids/counter raids. May not have been big famous battles but men died in them all the same. Glad to see the sector get some more exposure here.
