Remembered Today:

Ernest Broughton RHA

I am researching Ernest Jennings Broughton, born in Rotherhithe in 1891. He served in the Royal Horse Artillery. I think I have his regimental number L/29646.

His Medal Card indicates he served also in the Royal Filed Artillery, with the same service number.

I have checked the Medal Roll as well.

I would like to find his battery or squadron and would welcome any help.

I suspect he enlisted in London and wondered whether he might have joined a Territorial RHA unit but as I understand it, he would then be shown as being in the HAC and there is noting in the Roll or Cards to suggest he was.

Thanks for anything!

L/29646 belonged to Ernest John Broughton, so not the right man.

Hello.

There is an Ernest Jennings Broughton on the medal rolls L33848, Driver, RFA.

There is also a medal roll entry with the ASC Ernest Jennings Broughton ES59758, previously L33848, RFA. This also states "re-inlisted RASC 22/04/20"

Both medal rolls are for the British War and Victory medal.

Mick.

The MOD have retained the service file of S/10689 E J Broughton RASC. His previous service should be included.

His date of birth is given as May 23, 1891. Other details will only be disclosed on application (I believe with the permission of next of kin).
