I am trying to help a friend verify the following.

An announcement appears thus in the Hull Daily Mail 24th Jan 1919. Seeking Hull Wife Thomas Thornton writing from Kulti, East India Railway, India states "I have just been set free from the hands of the Turks, and I have been a prisoner of war for nearly four years. I am a Hull man and have lost trace of my wife and child, the former's name being Florence THORNTON (Nee RASTERY) who lived at 6 Crown Place, Wassand Street Hull as late as the month of August 1914 I should be very grateful of news of her and the child." The wife's correct maiden name appears to be Rasberry

This man served in the Royal Navy but was discharged for numerous offences, In 1915 a Thomas Robson THORNTON is listed as a ships cook aged 30 years, born West Hartlepool on board MV Aldgate previous ship Riberia.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Thank you
