GWF1967 Posted 8 May , 2015 Share Posted 8 May , 2015 The first tag is J. T. Evans. RFA. No. 92795. The other tag is pictured front and back. One No. stamped, the other scratched in to the back by Mr Wood himself. H. Wood No 2596 or 2145. Both numbers searched on their own on Ancestry bought up long lists for every name but! I don't have any joy with FMP. Any help would be most welcome.

tootrock Posted 8 May , 2015 Share Posted 8 May , 2015 Presumably none of these chaps served overseas, hence no MIC. Martin
CROONAERT Posted 8 May , 2015 Share Posted 8 May , 2015 Judging from what I can see (bearing in mind that I'm viewing on a small screen phone), both Butcher and Smith's discs appear to be of post-1920 construction...maybe even WW2. Butcher's almost certainly is. Dave
GWF1967 Posted 8 May , 2015 Author Share Posted 8 May , 2015 Dave. I did wonder, but the WW2 discs I have are 7 figure rather than 6 or in the case of Butcher 5 fig No's. Do you know the dates when the T letter prefix was in use?

Do you know the dates when the T letter prefix was in use? 1 digit through to 8(?) digits for numbers between 1920 and 1950 dependant on (original) unit and enlistment date. Not sure on the prefix off the top of my head (I'm away from my files, but will probably be able to be more definitive when I get back to them. GWF1967 Posted 8 May , 2015 Author Share Posted 8 May , 2015 Thanks again Dave. From what I remembered reading ( can't remember where) letter prefixes were out of use after 1918! T- ASC Horse drawn or Territorial on LLT. Also AOC according to FWR.
CROONAERT Posted 8 May , 2015 Share Posted 8 May , 2015 Maybe the case for the RASC, but letter prefixes could certainly be found in WW2...especially in ancillary formations. Dave
