KathrynWhite Posted 3 May , 2015 Share Posted 3 May , 2015 Hello, I'm researching the names on the North Nibley war memorial in Gloucestershire and have had a bit of a problem identifying one man: LE Bullock. In census and service records I have only found one L/LE Bullock from North Nibley (it's only a small village) and that is Leonard Edwin Bullock, born 1886. I have then found him listed in service records as serving in the Royal Navy. However, I can't connect this with CWGC information. I'm presuming he'd be listed on there as (I think) he died in the war (as he's on the memorial) but the only name which could fit the bill is LE Bullock of the Machine Gun Corps. Would a man have switched from Navy to Army? Alternatively, could he have been listed on the memorial, despite dying after the war, maybe from illness and therefore not be officially remembered on CWGC? Thanks, Kathryn
ralphjd Posted 3 May , 2015 Share Posted 3 May , 2015 1911 census has him as a stoker 1st class, seems odd to be then in the MGC.
archangel9 Posted 3 May , 2015 Share Posted 3 May , 2015 The MGC Bullock on CWGC also served with Gloucestershire regiment and entered theatre with that regt. on 3/12/14 so almost certainly not your man. John
KathrynWhite Posted 3 May , 2015 Author Share Posted 3 May , 2015 Thanks John. May he have not been listed on CWGC because he didn't die as a direct result of war?

CGM Posted 3 May , 2015 Share Posted 3 May , 2015 I have found the service record of Leonard Edwin Bullock, N Nibley, Milk Boy, aged 12, who joined the navy in March 1904 - on Findmypast. It doesn't help you, though, I'm afraid. *Sorry - this bit was missed off - I can't see an obvious Death Record. CGM
