Can anyone help me with my Major William Meggitt Winter MC MBE R.G.A. Again I am looking for how he got his MC award in the war in the London Gazette but can not find it? I have all his other awards from there. Any help we'll do. Thank you

His MC was Gazetted on 1st January, 1918 (New Year Honours). Regretfully, New Year Honours rarely have citations.
William was decorated with the award on 9th November, 1918.

His London Gazette entery is here
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30450/supplement/50

He is also shown in the Edinburgh Gazette is here
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/Edinburgh/issue/13186/page/56

Hope this helps

Andrew, New Year's (and King's birthday awards), were usually awarded for "distinguished and meritorious service" rather than for one specific act of valour.

a trawl through war diaries might give you an indication - but its likely to just be a "general" award - frustrating I know

My notes show that he served with 154th Heavy Battery, RGA.
