I found a memorial card for Arthur Louis Gullick in a book I bought and was wondering if you had a pic of him ? The card says he "Fell in action in France, 3 oct 1915"

I downloaded his medal card and have a little info , but a pic would be nice (i have searched google but with no luck) and any other info which might tell me more about this officer.

Norwood

Arthur's parental home was at Uplands,Pirbright,Surrey. You might find a pic in the local newspaper for the area.

He was a Lieutenant (Territorial) in the East Kent Regiment,I haven't seen a Battalion on any of the usual databases as yet so can't suggest more details. There were no other KIAs from the Regiment on 3.10.1915.

He is buried in Bois-Carre Military Cemetery, Haisnes.

His service file is at Kew,here is the database reference, though the file is not digital as yet :

Hi Norwood,

The CWGC and Soldiers' Effects both give 6th Bn, and the date of 3rd October

6th Bn War Diary - Vermelles, 2nd October 1915:

"... 6. pm. A burial party under Lieut WILLIAMS went out. About 50 bodies were buried. The party was heavily shelled, but returned with only the loss of one stretcher. Another working party of 600 ? [this is as it appears in the diary] men was again furnished , in two reliefs. Lieut. PHILLIMORE & LIEUT. A.L. GULLICK went out with the first party to reconnoitre the ground in front of the lines. Lieut. LEE & 2nd LIEUT. LAMBERT went out with the second. Lieut. A.L GULLICK was unfortunately hit by a stray bullet and died within a few minutes. He was buried by the 8th R. F. at P8 [?].36. opp. BOIS CARREE...."
