wesleycj Posted 29 April , 2015 Share Posted 29 April , 2015 Searching for information on Drv Edward Vincent James 196598 RHA who served in Palestine in 1918. He mentioned he was with the Australians so that 'might' point to 18 or 19 Bde. 18 Bde - Ayrshire, Invernesshire & Somerset Batteries 19 Bde - A & B Btys HAC, Notts Bty 20 Bde - Berks, Hants & Leicestershire Batteries. He was 19 in Oct 1917, enlisted one year earlier, so probably joined unit around about Oct 17. Possibly joined the Ammunition Column prior to the Bty, I believe this was the norm for a replacement. many thanks Chris
David Porter Posted 29 April , 2015 Share Posted 29 April , 2015 He joined 1/1st Ayrshire Battery RHA on August 24, 1917 then moved to 18th Bde AC on October 11, 1917. On March 19, 1919 he is posted to 1/1st Berkshire RHA but by 29th of that month he has moved to 20th Bde AC. His service file is indexed on Findmypast under James Edward Vincent but the same regimental number.
wesleycj Posted 29 April , 2015 Author Share Posted 29 April , 2015 David Thank you for that, the 'rearrangement' of names never ceases to amaze me I would not have thought of that combination. Chrs
