sheilaelizabeth1951 Posted 23 April , 2015 Share Posted 23 April , 2015 I have been involved during the past 5 months in researching relatives of 43 WW1 soldiers who were remembered on the original memorials at Marylebone station. The dedication ceremony took place last Thursday and it was a moving and fitting ceremony. Over 60 relatives attended and there are now 3 replica memorials at the far end of the station, on the concourse, to the Victoria and Albert pub, . An animation was made from letters sent from the soldiers at the front to their colleagues at Marylebone and I have attached the link below. I think it's a very fitting reminder of what happened and how the typical british soldier made light of it all and related it in such matter of fact terms, whilst all hell was breaking out around them. Hopefully, as people pass the new memorials, they will take a moment to reflect and remember.
