mcelwee Posted 22 April , 2015 Posted 22 April , 2015 New Zealand Defence Force are having a ceremony at Caterpiller Valley cemetery on Anzac Day itself for the first time. Is anybody going? Would love to see some photos. Marie-Louise
Ghazala Posted 22 April , 2015 Posted 22 April , 2015 I love that cemetery Marie-Louise. As you know the former grave of your Unknown Warrior is there and who now rests in the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Wellington. I am not there for the ceremony this week but will be there in September. If you require any photographs let me know Eddie
nigelcave Posted 22 April , 2015 Posted 22 April , 2015 Also one later in the day at Le Quesnoy (the one where they used scaling ladders, in the last days of the war - very medieval!).
mcelwee Posted 11 May , 2015 Author Posted 11 May , 2015 Sorry Ghazala. Still here been off the forum for a bit dealing with other aspects of life! I have to ration myself on the forum or nothing else would get done! Re Anzac Day NZDF put up a few photos of the ceremony on their Facebook page. My brother was there and said it was very moving. The last time I was there was over 20 years ago so looking forward to my next trip there in 2016. Thanks for posting the photos. The gravestone for the unknown warrior is especially moving.
