philcr13 Posted 21 April , 2015 Share Posted 21 April , 2015 Hello All, I have just received from the National Archives, copies of the medal rolls, relating to my great Uncle. Alongside his entry for the '14 - '15 Star are various other entries which in the 'Remarks' column have the word 'Disembodied' followed by various dates all from the year 1919. Can anyone shed any light on these entries? Thanks.
John_Hartley Posted 21 April , 2015 Share Posted 21 April , 2015 It's the version of "demobilised" for Territorial soldiers - simply the date he left the army. He'll have been "embodied" when joined or, for a pre-war Territorial, when he was mobilised when war was declared. No doubt, there's a more detailed answer to your question, but that's basically how I understand things.

Moonraker Posted 22 April , 2015 Share Posted 22 April , 2015 Googling "disembodied invisionzone" will lead to several previous threads that may give you the detailed answer suggested by John. Moonraker

Muerrisch Posted 22 April , 2015 Share Posted 22 April , 2015 Technically, it happened to units, not individuals: units [or the whole TF] were "embodied" into the Army, and eventually "disembodied" when the war was over.
