UK or overseas death?

Is there anything in particular you're after as the information may be available elsewhere.

The Scottish BDM, Census records and Soldier's Wills are separate from English/Welsh/Irish records and are available at the ScotlandsPeople website.

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

They are not free online, but are free when personally visiting Register House, Edinburgh.

Online a 'Search' will cost 1 credit, and to look at a record costs 5 credits.

You will have to register and buy credits (7GBP for 30).

"Death Certificates" for soldiers are given in the form of Army Form W.3231 (Return of Warrant Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men) which is a page with a list of 15 names per page from each Regiment and Battalion.

These are known as 'Service Returns'.

Here's an example showing my grandfather's name on the last line of this page.

Kindest Regards,

Tom.
