andy2014 Posted 15 April , 2015 Share Posted 15 April , 2015 (edited) Hi I am researching a friends relative and his records show the following.. Joined the 7th DLI Durham Light Infantry, Northumbrian Division Cycle Company, then moved around to the 9th reserve, the 1/7th and 1/8th then on the 3/8/17 posted to the 91st. On the 22nd July 1917 he was gassed at Nieuport, Belgium, all his paperwork related to his sickness, medicals and discharge home on 27.10.1917 with Pulmonary Tuberculosis have him with: T.F West Yorks 1/8th Btn T.F Depot 91st. I am seeking any tips on researching who he was with and what happened at the time? So far have found it was part of the battle at Passchendaele, Operation Hush on the coast? Am continuing to search but any info, maps or knowledge of war diaries of accounts at the time greatly appreciated to help me put something together to pass on to him and his family. Thanks in advance for any information Yours Gratefully Andy Martin Edited 15 April , 2015 by andy2014
sotonmate Posted 15 April , 2015 Share Posted 15 April , 2015 Andy 49 Division (1/8 West Yorks were part of 146 Infantry Brigade of that Division) were at Operation Hush in July 1917. Here an article from the LLT: http://www.1914-1918.net/hush.htm and here the War Diary for 1/8 West Yorks: http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7354661
