Guest Posted 10 April , 2015 Share Posted 10 April , 2015 I am looking for photographs relating to NZANS WW1. I am trying to put as many photographs of NZANS nurses on my website www.nzans.org to celebrate 100 years of the NZANS now th RNZNC. I am also writing the book for the 100 years and am looking for a photo a French Barge used for wounded soldiers in 1915 on which one of our NZ Nurses a Lily Lind nursed prior to becoming ill with TB. She later died on the way back to NZ. Lily lind is supposed to have been awarded the Croix de Guerre but I cannot find anything on it. She did receive the Médaille de la Reconnaissance Française. Any help in my quests would be great. Unfortunately I am running out of time for the French Barge and Lily info but the photos of nurses is ongoing. Never put anything on here before so if I have mucked up please let me know.
burlington Posted 10 April , 2015 Share Posted 10 April , 2015 There is/was a member of this Forum who was writing a book about the women (or perhaps just nurses) who died when in service. Or something very similar. Unfortunately, his name complete escapes me though I think it began with an S. I have done a 'member search', but can't find him. Doubtless a Pal with a better memory than I will let you know (and me of course!!) via this Topic Regards Martin
royalredcross Posted 10 April , 2015 Share Posted 10 April , 2015 That would probably be Jim Strawbridge. NGG

Jim Strawbridge Posted 11 April , 2015 Share Posted 11 April , 2015 That would be me. I do not have a photograph of Lily Lind (yet) - only her father's gravestone mentioning her.

There are a lot on the Imperial War Museum website - if you do a search for 'Hospital Barge' and then use the left hand menu to filter to 'First World War' you'll find a selection IWM Collections Search Sue
