andy2014 Posted 9 April , 2015 Share Posted 9 April , 2015 Hi All Hope you are well, continuing research into relatives and this one still has the least amount of info so far? Edward S Norman, Born 30th Jan 1898 - Sept 1982 (Son of Edward and Francis Norman, 6 St Georges Avenue, Bournmouth St, Hull) Private 21222 8th East Yorkshire Regiment No service records seem to exist? (NOTE: NOT to be confused with his father Sapper Edward Samuel Norman, 1878-1948, service no. 474251, 529th Field Company Royal Engineers / 1st East Riding Fortress Royal engineers of the same address.) Family story is that he had a limp for life and i found a newspaper archive from the Hull Daily mail dated 19th August 1916 and listed him as wounded in the wounded soldiers news. Have heard that if they were sent home then they would have qualified for a war badge for being discharged with wounds? Unsure where to check this? Or did he continue in the war? So far the medals i have discovered he got was the British War Medal and Victory Medal. Unsure of timescales of the wounded lists to appear in newspapers and where he possibly could have been wounded? have the 8th War Diary and am unsure if theres any way of finding out what Company he may have been in? to help see what he did where and when? Understand it was around Bazentin and Delville Wood at that time? Any further info or tips to fill in the gaps greatly appreciated! With Thanks in advance! Coldstreamer Posted 9 April , 2015 Share Posted 9 April , 2015 if he was awarded a SWB then youd expect to find it on the medal index card
