Anneca Posted 10 April , 2015 Share Posted 10 April , 2015 I thoroughly enjoyed watching Norm Christie on Sky PBS America Channel 534 last night (thanks to a prompt from Biffo!!!). I felt this was a different take on programmes shown to date about the Great War, particularly as Christie dealt with some less well known cemeteries on the Western Front and included various pieces of information he had researched about some men beneath the CWGC headstones. BIFFO Posted 11 April , 2015 Share Posted 11 April , 2015 I have norms forgotten battlefields dvd, which goes into hill62/mount sorrel/maple copse. In this latest series I was a tad surprised that as he drove the length and breadth of the wf looking at Canadian cemetery's, he never went to maple copse, I thought the way he dealt with battlefield recovery episode "the missing" excellent. Makes a change to see different ww1 film rather than see the same "stuff "rehashed.Anne cheques in the post Maldon SOON Biff

Anneca Posted 16 April , 2015 Share Posted 16 April , 2015 Watched the second episode last night and was impressed. I particularly enjoyed the footage of the 1936 pilgrimage to Ypres. Excellent programme! Anne
pooter Posted 12 August , 2015 Share Posted 12 August , 2015 It has just been repeated on PBS. I'm sorry I didn't give it a heads up as I enjoyed the series very much. As has been said a change to see the war from a different perspective and some interesting archive footage and photos.
