michaeldr Posted 9 November , 2004 Share Posted 9 November , 2004 This book review appeared in last weekend’s ‘Weekend FT.’ I have been unable to find it in their on-line edition and in case it has been missed I att. it here as a JPEG Regards Michael D.R. Halder Posted 10 November , 2004 Share Posted 10 November , 2004 Strongly recommended - but with a caveat. Brown has culled many unpublished accounts from the archives of the IWM and elsewhere (diaries, letters, memoirs) on the 1914 campaign in the West that is largely overlooked in favour of Passchendaele/Somme/Gallipoli. The only regret is that there's very little from the French, Belgium, German viewpoints. Nevertheless, worth £20 of anyone's money (I got a copy for a £10 in a cheapo bookshop).
