mattp Posted 29 March , 2015 Share Posted 29 March , 2015 I'm wondering whether anyone might have any information on " First re-union of officers of the 2nd/5th S.Lancs who went overseas with the battalion in February 1917 " that took place on the 28th November 1936. There can't have been many there !!!. I'm researching one of the officers who went to the re-union.
steandpaula Posted 30 March , 2015 Share Posted 30 March , 2015 It might be worth checking the local press archive at the library, if you can get there? We have put a number of pictures and articles related to 2/5th in the gallery here, so have a look and you might get lucky http://www.sthelensrollsofhonour.co.uk/home Ste
mattp Posted 30 March , 2015 Author Share Posted 30 March , 2015 Thank you so much for your reply. Unfortunately no luck with re-union picture, but what an excellent website. It serves me right being interested in a northern regiment (S.Lancs) when I live in the south!! it makes it a little more difficult to research anything. steandpaula Posted 31 March , 2015 Share Posted 31 March , 2015 No problem, thanks for the praise. There are some pics of the officers (named) of the 2/5th before going out so thought you might get lucky and see him mentioned. Next time I'm in I will see if there is anything on or around the date in 1936 related to the reunion. The pictures on the site are related to the World Wars not later, but if I do find anything, I'm sure it could be added. Regards, Ste
