Graeme Mitchell Posted 28 March , 2015 Share Posted 28 March , 2015 Anne Donnell left Australia on 25 May 1915 and returned in 28 Feb 1919. Anne kept a diary of her war, and the work she was part of, as a Nursing Sister looking after the wounded from Gallipoli, Egypt, France, England. We have the original diaries and have finished the first children's book called "Anne Threw a Streamer" in a series. My mother was given to Anne in Kalgoorlie Western Australia to raise as her own, mum always said it was because she was part aboriginal and her family of ten did not want her, no idea of any truth or fiction behind it but the only surviving brother in her family certainly does not agree with mum. When Anne passed away the diaries went to mum, and when mum joined her, the diaries sat in a cupboard for many years. 60 Minutes took us to Gallipoli and filmed a story for the Centenary of Gallipoli. The series of books for children are illustrated by a young woman and proof read by our nine year old editor. We have four generations of Australian women involved Olivia 9, Alice illustrator 19, Jan my partner and of course Anne Donnell herself. Our first Ebook will be available soon and we are saving to publish in hard copy. www.annedonnell.com.au is our website as homage to Anne
