david west Posted 25 March , 2015 Share Posted 25 March , 2015 I have been doing alot of research into my Great Uncle Cecil Victor Masters. He served with the 9th Btn Devonshire Regt with service number 19151 until his transfer to the 8th Btn MGC on 14th March 1918, service number 140541. On his MIC it states that he entered theatre on 21st December 1915. Can anyone help with which Battalion he entered theatre (theatre code 1 - Western Europe) ? surely not the 9th Btn, as they landed in France in July 1915 ? Help ! Admin ss002d6252 Posted 25 March , 2015 Admin Share Posted 25 March , 2015 He enlisted around June/July 1915. Medal roll shows he was 9th Devons when he went overseas. Craig
david west Posted 25 March , 2015 Author Share Posted 25 March , 2015 Craig, Thanks for that information. I dont quite know how to interprete it, the 9th Btn landed in France in July 1915 ! Does this mean he was a battallion "battle casualty replacement" i.e trained in June/July and joined the 9th Btn in December ? Am confused. Admin ss002d6252 Posted 25 March , 2015 Admin Share Posted 25 March , 2015 He would have joined as a part of a replacement draft to the battalion. Craig
