Guest birdflightless Posted 6 May , 2003 Share Posted 6 May , 2003 Hi, Can anyone please tell me where the Bayerisches Infanterie Regiment 2, 5 Kompanie, were engaged in the front line in November/December 1917. Thank you. Stewart
Ralph J. Whitehead Posted 6 May , 2003 Share Posted 6 May , 2003 Stewart, This regiment was positioned on the Champagne front, sector south of St. Marie-a-Py starting from 25 July until relieved 27 December. Given normal rotation of units the regiment would have been in and out of the line during the period you mentioned. Ralph
AOK4 Posted 7 May , 2003 Share Posted 7 May , 2003 Hello, According to the regimental history, BIR 2 returned to its trenches near Somme-Py (after being in the trenches near Ste. Marie à Py for a while) at the end of October 1917, which were held 'fighting and working, patrolling and ambushing patrols, shooting and every now and then being shot at heavily'. Around New Year 1918, the regiment was relieved by RIR 44. Jan
