8th Battn., Rifle Brigade, Oct. 1915

I think I have exhausted all avenues at my disposal to find out where the trenches were for the 8th Battn., Rifle Brigade in October 1915. The battalion diary states that on 7.10.15 they relieved the 7th Kings Royal Rifle Corps in trenches X1, X1a and F.13. Battalion HQ was just on the Ypres side of Hell Fire Corner, so these trenches must have been to the east of Hell Fire Corner on the way to Hooge or Bellewaarde. Does anyone have a map showing these positions?

I do not think I will be able to help you much, however the Divisional summary says H Sector, but a reference to F.13 when they were relieved on the 11th

41st Infantry Brigade progress report for the period in the trenches you are looking at. Just checking through Brigade and Divisional material o see if there is anything more.

Thanks Andy. In the second document under para.14 there is a reference to trench X1 and it appears to be close to R.2. Good luck in trying to find anything else that you can.

Hi Bob,

Digging away and managed to get the 42nd & 43rd Brigade map references, still looking at the Divisional material for 41st Brigade which refers back to Divisional order 22 which is August 1915, however there are references to "Y" Wood.
