shazbaz123 Posted 18 March , 2015 Share Posted 18 March , 2015 Just had a paper cutting about the Ramparts Museum being moved to UK, possibly Doncaster. Have I missed a thread about this or does anyone know anything about its final destination? Thanks in advance Barry
keithmroberts Posted 18 March , 2015 Share Posted 18 March , 2015 It has been discussed. The contents are now in the Museum of the Victoria Cross Trust in Doncaster. They have a website and a Facebook page. Keith

flintwich Posted 19 March , 2015 Share Posted 19 March , 2015 It's good to know where the museum has gone, but can you still buy some Peace beer ? Al
chrislock Posted 19 March , 2015 Share Posted 19 March , 2015 No but you can enjoy "Remembrance Beer" as the new owners wish it to be known.

The Scorer Posted 16 April , 2015 Share Posted 16 April , 2015 I'm pleased to tell you that the work on recreating the displays moved from the Ramparts Museum to the Ashworth Barracks Museum is well under way. I visited the museum last week, and would like to thank the staff there, especially Gary and Forum Paul Auchonvillerssomme for their help whilst I was there. I was very impressed by their plans, and I look forward to visiting again when everything has been completed.

ServiceRumDiluted Posted 12 May , 2015 Share Posted 12 May , 2015 Just been today and was really impressed, was shown round by a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The WW1 influence is very strong and the exhibits are of real interest and not the bog standard stuff, and will only improve. Its a place really deserving of support from Pals, and being a stones throw from the A1 you have no excuses!
auchonvillerssomme Posted 12 May , 2015 Share Posted 12 May , 2015 As SRD says the museum is open. The Ramparts section is complete bar the signage. And It isn't just about WW1, for the old soldiers the hands on exhibits in the Cold War and Gulf and Afghan rooms will bring back some memories. auchonvillerssomme Posted 18 June , 2015 Share Posted 18 June , 2015 It was my pleasure, good to have an interested audience and nice to put faces to names. By the way the chickens are called Hetty, Milly, Molly and Mo.
