RammyLad1 Posted 15 March , 2015 Share Posted 15 March , 2015 Would New Years day in 1916 be a day off from work as it is now or would it be considered as a normal working day ?

RammyLad1 Posted 15 March , 2015 Author Share Posted 15 March , 2015 So New Years day would be considered as a normal working day in 1916.
johnboy Posted 15 March , 2015 Share Posted 15 March , 2015 Seems so. You could look up New Years Day as a Public Holiday.

tootrock Posted 16 March , 2015 Share Posted 16 March , 2015 From 1963 to 1974 I have a vague recollection of New Year's Day being an occasion of groaning and headaches as we struggled through the working day regretting the excesses of the night before. I am sure that very little useful work was done throughout the land on January 1st. Martin
