Hi Peter,

Possibly 6th Bn with the reference 'The Laads Frae Canny Newcastle'. I would have thought that they are more likely to be Territorials rather than a Service Bn--but then? There do not appear to be any other obvious pointers but possibly if Graham picks up your posting then he may have some ideas.

Thanks Robert. It has been intimated, elsewhere, that they are Tyneside Scottish. I think not, as i have not seen TS with dress caps on before, only Glengarries.

I can see why someone has picked the Tyneside Scottish as a possibility--but I think more likely Scotsmen from Newcastle who joined the 6th Bn or another battalion, but certainly not the Tyneside Scottish for my money. The Newcastle Commercials is another possibility.

Howay man, theyre service battalion, 10. 11 12, 13 or 14.

Definitely not territorials!

and the suggestion they are TS is laughable - but one way a dealer will increase the price to an unwise or new collector. compare this one of the 10th or 11th Bns at Bramshott.

regards

John
