potty5 Posted 1 March , 2015 Share Posted 1 March , 2015 Dear forum members, any help on positively identifying these three men would be gratefully appreciated (or further info required). The first man is George John Glover, who was in the Royal Engineers and died from his wounds on September 28, 1921 (so no info on CWGC). He is buried in Wybunbury cemetery and the info I have got on him comes from his weathered gravestone. The second man I have not identified. His name is Charles H. Thomas. His name was added to the memorial at a later date (with 4 other names) but that's all I have on this man. Finally the last one is a Thomas Johnson. He is remembered on a family gravestone in Wybunbury and it states that he was killed in action on September 3 (or 5th?), 1917, but I can't find any info at all on him (no CWGC or Soldiers Died info on man of that name dying on that day). I have completed all the other men, but can't finish project without these 3 guys. Thanks very much.
roughdiamond Posted 1 March , 2015 Share Posted 1 March , 2015 Finally the last one is a Thomas Johnson. He is remembered on a family gravestone in Wybunbury and it states that he was killed in action on September 3 (or 5th?), 1917 I reckon this is your man http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/1633485/JOBSON,%20JOHN%20THOMAS couldn't find anyone with Wybunbury in "Additional information" so looked at nearby villages and tried Shavington. As you can see he's listed as 29446 Pte John Thomas JOBSON, but the KIA date 03/09/17 seems right. You could try the same trick with your other 2 men.
